In Cameroon, serious discord has erupted within the football federation (FECAFOOT). A coalition of stakeholders, led by U.S.-based lawyer Emmanuel Nsahlai, has formally filed multiple petitions with the Confederation of African Football (CAF), FIFA, and Cameroon’s Ministry of Sports.
The group is accusing the FECAFOOT president of corruption, tax fraud, conflict of interest, and electoral malpractice. In addition to these allegations, the petitioners are demanding his immediate suspension from his roles within both CAF and FIFA pending investigations.
The latest move adds fresh layers to Cameroon’s persistent football governance crisis, which in recent years has drawn increasing attention from international bodies. Analysts say FIFA and CAF may soon be forced to intervene more concretely if the standoff deepens.
