Some angry civil servants in Abia state protesting over the non-payment of their salaries prevented the state’s Accountant-General, Njum Onyemenam from entering her office office over non-payment of their salaries.
A video shared by a Facebook user, Prince Clinton Uba, on Tuesday, August 29, showed the workers scattered outside the office as a black SUV was being driven out.
A female voice could be heard saying, “We have worked here about 20 years and you are keeping us hungry, what will you call this nonsense, nobody will enter this place instead we will go lock that gate.”
Meanwhile, Njum dismissed the report that she was refused entrance to her office by angry workers.
In a statement signed by her and made available to newsmen, she said she was not in the office when the purported incident happened.
