Some lawyers taking part in the Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) reportedly walked out from the conference over the choice of Habeeb Olalomi, popularly known as Portable, as a guest artist.
At the NBA conference held at the Velodrome of the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja, members of the bar had a breakaway session yesterday.
The evening program tagged Unbarred, which started late Wednesday to the early hours of Thursday, saw lawyers who had waited for hours for the start of the breakaway session shocked when Portable was announced as the guest artist.
MUK gathered that many of the lawyers questioned the choice of the Zazu crooner and angrily walked out of the night show.
The NBA members were seen walking and driving out of the stadium around 1 a.m.
“How dare they call Portable to come and play for lawyers at the conference? Can you imagine? Normally, unbarred doesn’t end till 3 or 4 a.m., but we are leaving for our hotels. We are upset,” one of the lawyers reportedly said while staging a walkout.”
“They spoil my day with this Zazu. He couldn’t even wear a shirt,” another lawyer said and added that many of the conferees were unhappy that Portable had been invited as the guest artist.
The controversial artiste, who was shirtless, climbed one of the huge poles erected at the venue while performing.
Meanwhile, the NBA’s Publicity Secretary, Habeeb Lawal, has denied the report that their members walked out of the program.
