The deputy governor of the Economic Policy Directorate of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Kingsley Obiora, has been detained by officials of the Department of State Services (DSS).

Obiora’s arrest is believed to be in connection with the ongoing investigation into the suspended governor of the apex bank, Godwin Emefiele, over allegations of financial misappropriation.

His detention has, therefore, thrown the CBN into a state of anxiety as many staff of the apex bank are confused.

The Nation reports that Obiora is not the only CBN official with the DSS, although the identities of others were not disclosed.

A Special Investigations Panel set up by President Bola Tinubu to investigate the tenure of the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, has been reportedly pressuring Obiora against his former boss.

While Obiora has not been accused of fraud by the authorities, MUK TV understands that the panel is insisting that he is not telling the truth regarding Emefiele’s case.

Obiora, a former policy adviser at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), is the only economist left among the hierarchies of the CBN.
