The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, has suspended forthwith a Government House driver who got involved in an accident with an 18-year-old Okada rider identified as Orji Felix in Ohafia on Sunday, pending an investigation.
This was made known through a press statement by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Kezie Ukoh.
Otti’s convoy was said to have hit the Okada rider at the Old Soldier Junction in Ohafia while taking off from the town after attending the child dedication of Deputy Governor Emetu’s son.
According to an official statement, Onyebuchi Steven, the driver of a Toyota Hilux pickup, reportedly collided with the Okada rider, Felix, who had just picked up a passenger by the roadside and was about to ride off.
While speculation earlier had it that the convoy crushed Felix to death, MUK TV gathered that the accident victim was alive but suffered serious injuries with multiple fractures on his left leg and right arm.
He had since been hospitalized at the Ajayi Crowther ward, Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Umuahia, for treatments.
