President Bola Tinubu on Friday likened the economic hardship Nigerians are enduring under his reforms to the pain of a life-saving surgery, insisting recovery is already underway.
Speaking at Mapo Hall, Ibadan, during the coronation of the 44th Olubadan, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Tinubu reassured citizens that brighter days are near.
“To many of you here present, today I’m honoured and I’m very proud to give you the cheering news that economy has turned the corner, there’s a bright light at the end of the tunnel,” he declared.
“Your suffering is a pain, a pain of a painful surgery but it is now returned to the moment of growth and prosperity that’s awaiting us ahead. Thank you for your perseverance. Thank you for your endurance and thank you for your understanding.”
Tinubu, who arrived alongside Governor Seyi Makinde at 2:28 p.m., was accompanied by the governors of Ondo, Osun, Ekiti, and members of his cabinet.
Earlier, Oba Ladoja had been formally crowned as the 44th Olubadan, succeeding the late Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, who died on July 7, 2025, after just one year on the throne.
The new monarch completed traditional rites before proceeding to Mapo Hall for the official ceremony, where Tinubu and a host of dignitaries, including former governors, federal lawmakers, and top traditional rulers such as the Sultan of Sokoto, Alaafin of Oyo, Soun of Ogbomosho, Oluwo of Iwo, and Olugbo of Ugbo, joined in the celebration.
