The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has thrown its weight behind the newly appointed Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Joash Ojo Amupitan (SAN), describing him as a perfect choice by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking shortly after the announcement, APC’s Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Duro Meseko, praised President Tinubu’s decision and assured that the party would cooperate fully with the new INEC leadership.
“I can tell you that anybody that is announced as the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the national chairman of INEC based on the powers confered on him by the constitution is welcomed by the party as we have confidence in him and we have no reason to be opposed to that decision.
“We welcome the person and we assure the person that APC will work with him within the ambit of the law. We wish him well,” Meseko said.
Meseko added that the party trusts Amupitan’s capacity to strengthen electoral integrity and drive reforms that will deepen Nigeria’s democracy.
