The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced that the highly anticipated play-off to determine Africa’s representative for the FIFA Intercontinental Play-Off will be staged in Morocco this November.

The mini-tournament will kick off with the semifinals on November 13, followed by the final on November 16, where the winner will earn the right to compete for a coveted place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup via the intercontinental route.

CAF confirmed that the seeding of teams will be based on the FIFA rankings released at the end of October, ensuring a competitive and merit-based match-up. The host nation’s stadiums for the semifinals and final are yet to be finalized, with an official announcement expected in the coming weeks.

This decisive play-off comes as part of CAF’s qualification pathway following Africa’s allocated direct slots for the expanded 2026 World Cup. The tournament is set to draw significant attention, as the winning side will be just one match away from securing global football’s biggest stage.
