
Former Abia State Chief of Staff and 2023 governorship candidate of the Action Peoples Party (APP), Sir Mascot Uzor Kalu, has described the late Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai as a spiritual icon whose life and ministry impacted generations and strengthened the Christian faith across the world.
Kalu stated this when he paid a condolence visit to the family of the firebrand evangelist at their residence in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
He said the passing of Rev. Ukpai, an illustrious son of Abia, was not just a loss to the Christian community, but to Nigeria and humanity at large, given his decades of commitment to evangelistic soul-winning, humanitarian work, and national unity.
“Rev. Uma Ukpai lived a life of service, humility, and faith. He was not just a preacher but a true servant of God whose words inspired hope and righteousness. His passing leaves a void that only divine comfort can fill,” the former Abia Chief of Staff said.
He prayed for God’s strength and peace upon the bereaved family and urged them to take solace in the patriarch’s fulfilled and impactful life to the service of God and humanity.
Accompanied by a few members of the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association (UUEA), the visit was marked by prayers and solemn reflections on the late cleric’s lofty legacy.
Kalu signed the condolence register, writing that “Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai was a father in faith whose impact will never fade.”

The globally respected evangelist, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai, died on October 6, 2025, after devoting decades to the evangelistic ministry that took him to nations around the world, preaching the gospel and transforming lives through his powerful message of faith.
