The governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, has disbanded all media aides appointed by him and seconded them to the office of his deputy, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, with immediate effect.

According to a statement issued and made available to newsmen by his chief press secretary, Richard Olatunde, the affected aides include Press Secretary to the Governor, Kenneth Odusola; Special Assistant to the Governor (New Media), Okunniga Oladipupo; and Special Assistant to the Governor (Photography), Abayomi Samson Adefolalu.

Akeredolu ordered the relieved media aides to submit all government properties in their possession to the Acting Permanent Secretary, Office of the Deputy Governor.

The governor also disbanded the press crew attached to the office of the deputy governor.

According to the statement, “All members of the press crew are to report back to their various ministries and stations.

This development comes days after Governor Akeredolu returned to Nigeria from a medical vacation in Europe.

While on vacation, his deputy held sway over the governor after transmitting power to him through the State Assembly.

But since he resumed office, there has been a persistent report of a rift between him and his deputy.

Though Aiyedatiwa earlier today dismissed such reports and tagged them as the handy work of political mischief makers who want to pitch him against his principal, with this latest development, the rumors of a cold war between him and Akeredolu will not go away anytime soon.
