Governor Charles Soludo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has won a second term in office after a landslide victory in the Anambra governorship election held on Saturday, November 8.
According to official results announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Soludo dominated the polls, securing 422,664 votes out of a total 584,054 cast across the state’s 21 local government areas.
His closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), trailed far behind with 99,445 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) garnered 8,208 and 1,401 votes respectively.
The results were declared by the State Collation Officer, Prof. Edogah Omoregie, Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin, at INEC’s headquarters in Awka on Sunday.
With this emphatic victory, Soludo cements his hold on Anambra’s political landscape, extending APGA’s dominance in the state.
