American activist Tamika Mallory has weighed in on the ongoing conversations linking Donald Trump, Nicki Minaj, and Nigeria, sharing a strongly worded video where she expressed concern about what she believes could happen if Trump turns his focus to the country.
Mallory said she usually chooses her words carefully when speaking publicly about Black people, but felt this moment required a statement.
In her video, she warned that aligning with Donald Trump comes with consequences, adding that based on his history, his interest in Nigeria could lead to exploitation and resource extraction by people within his circle — whether business partners, friends, corporations, or even family members.
She stated that in her view, Nigeria could face harm if such interests take hold, and expressed worry that Nicki Minaj could be left to face backlash alone if the situation escalates.
Mallory added that innocent Nigerians might suffer from whatever unfolds, saying history shows Trump has used Black people and Black culture in ways that negatively impact Africans both at home and abroad.
She ended by describing the moment as “a sad day,” noting that time would reveal how the situation develops.
