Abia 2027 governorship hopeful, Sir Mascot Uzor-Kalu, has sent a strong message to politicians and citizens alike, saying opposition is part of democracy, not a war.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, the former Abia Chief of Staff stressed that a thriving democracy depends on respect for dissenting voices.
“Our democracy becomes stronger when the opposition is allowed to play its rightful role.
“Being in the opposition does not mean we are enemies of the government. It means we are partners in the search for progress, development, and responsible governance,” he said.
Kalu made it clear his call is about citizen representation, not political bickering.
“Opposition is not hostility. It is a necessary part of any thriving democracy, and my focus is to contribute meaningfully to the dialogue on how we can deliver the governance that Abians truly deserve,” he said.
The APC aspirant revealed his 2027 vision focuses on economic revival, inclusive leadership, and people-centered development.
“I want Abians to know that my ambition is driven by a genuine desire to serve,” Kalu stated, adding , “Our state has enormous potential, and with the right policies, infrastructure, and leadership mindset, we can unlock opportunities that will benefit everyone.”
He also called on all political actors to put Abia’s welfare above party rivalry.
“We must put Abia first. We may belong to different political parties, but we all share the same responsibility to protect the future of our state,” he said.
Kalu ended with a rallying cry for transparency, accountability, and service.
“Let us deliver the governance Abians deserve. Together, we can build a state where transparency, accountability, and genuine service guide every decision.”
