The plots to stop the impeachment plans against the Ondo state deputy governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, took a diabolic turn on Monday as a scary fetish object mysteriously surfaced at the entrance of the official lodge of the State’s Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olamide Olajide, in Akure, the state capital.
Rattled by the development, the Speaker raised an alarm over threat against his life since the commencement of impeachment proceedings against the deputy governor, while calling on security agencies to come to his rescue.
Olajide said had been receiving calls from strange numbers for over three days.
Speaking with journalists in his office, the Speaker insisted that “I have been receiving strange calls since the day we began the impeachment notice, but I didn’t count them as something serious.
“It was when I saw a strange object placed in front of my official lodge today that I had to raise the alarm.
“I believe the threat is connected to the deputy governor’s impeachment notice, as they see me as the arrowhead.
“I am not alone on this, as some members of the Assembly are also receiving threats, especially members from Ilaje. They have been threatened by some people not to come home to Ilaje.”
Olajide also debunked the insinuation that he was under pressure from external forces to influence the outcome of the impeachment proceedings.
“I am not under any pressure. Though some people are sending me messages to suppress me, we will do what is right under the law.”
