Former Abia State Commissioner for Finance, Obinna Oriaku, has alleged that the administration of Governor Alex Otti spends over ₦500 million monthly on media and publicity activities while engaging paid influencers to promote its narratives.
Speaking on Magic 102.9 FM Aba during the “Abia Democrats” programme on Thursday morning, Oriaku claimed the heavy investment explains the stark contrast between the positive image projected online and the situation on ground.
“This government invests over half a billion naira every month on media and influencers just to sustain a narrative. That is why the Abia you see on social media is totally different from the reality people experience daily,” he said.
Oriaku, who served as Finance Commissioner in the immediate past administration, accused the government of prioritising propaganda over tangible development.
