The Abia Youth Assembly has openly endorsed Sir Mascot Uzor-Kalu’s 2027 governorship ambition, declaring that the state needs a versatile, experienced, and people-focused leader to confront its growing challenges.

The endorsement was announced at a packed youth consultative forum in Umuahia, where members of the Assembly took stock of Abia’s leadership realities and set out their expectations for the future.

Speaking for the Assembly, Speaker Comrade Daniel Kalu said young people across the state are gravitating towards leaders who understand governance beyond politics and can turn ideas into tangible results.

He said Kalu’s experience in public administration, business, and community engagement gives him a clear edge in offering inclusive and effective leadership.

The Assembly said Abia requires a governor capable of managing people, institutions, and resources with both competence and empathy, especially at a time of rising unemployment, fragile institutions, and economic uncertainty.

Members noted that Kalu’s positions on youth empowerment, economic diversification, and transparent governance align with the hopes of young people across Abia.

They added that his consistent focus on service, accountability, and people-centred policies has set him apart in the political arena.

Recall that the former Abia Chief of Staff has maintained that his ambition is rooted in building a state that works for everyone, with young people at the centre of development.

Overtime, he has stressed that leadership must remain adaptable and responsive to changing realities, while youth inclusion remains a key pillar of his governance philosophy.

According to the governorship hopefu, policies on education, skills acquisition, entrepreneurship, and innovation must be deliberately designed to equip young people for a competitive future.

The Abia Youth Assembly ended the forum by calling on political stakeholders to embrace issue-based politics and support leaders who prioritise competence over rhetoric, expressing confidence that Abia can unlock its vast potential under the right leadership.
