The Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has commended “the courage, discipline and sacrifice” of Nigerian Army officers and personnel serving across the nation.
He made the remarks during a Christmas lunch with troops under the 63 Brigade Nigerian Army at the 3 Battalion Barracks, Effurun, Delta State, on Saturday, while on a working tour of military formations in the Niger Delta region.
“The Yuletide season has given the Nigerian Army the opportunity to reassess itself regarding its operational challenges and successes, among others, as they continue to battle insecurity in the nation,” the COAS said.
Represented by the Chief of Civil Military Affairs, Major General Musa Auwal, Shaibu, who was the special guest of honour, noted that “the noble virtues of the Yuletide comprising love, sacrifice, compassion, peace and unity also resonate strongly with the Nigerian Army ethoes and values.”
