Sir Mascot Uzor Kalu, APC governorship aspirant for Abia State in 2027, has joined Nigerians in observing the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, honouring the soldiers who paid the ultimate price for the nation’s unity and freedom.

In a statement on Thursday, Kalu described the fallen heroes as the backbone of Nigeria’s survival, saying their courage, sacrifice and patriotism must never be reduced to mere ceremonial mentions.

He stressed that the day is a sobering reminder that Nigeria’s peace was bought with blood, bravery and unwavering commitment by men and women who chose duty over life itself.

Kalu challenged leaders at all levels to go beyond wreath-laying and speeches, insisting that true honour lies in concrete action that improves the welfare of serving officers, veterans and families of fallen soldiers.

He also called on Nigerians to remain united, peaceful and patriotic, noting that national cohesion is the greatest tribute the country can offer those who died in its defence.

Commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ongoing efforts to strengthen national security and boost the operational capacity of the armed forces, Kalu said sustained investment in the military is crucial for stability.

He ended with prayers for the repose of the souls of fallen soldiers and divine protection for troops currently on the frontlines, stressing that their sacrifices must never be forgotten.
