Senator Elisha Abbo has said the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, is behind the appeal court’s ruling, which removed him from office on Monday.
Abbo, who until his sack represented Adamawa North senatorial district, alleged that four other senators had been targeted for removal from the red chamber through the court for working against the emergence of Akpabio as Senate President.
In an interview with reporters on Monday in Abuja, Abbo specifically mentioned Senator Orji Uzor Kalu (APC Abia North) as the next target for removal from the Senate.
“I have it from a reliable source that myself and four other senators within the fold of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will be removed from the Senate through rulings from the courts, all because of working against the emergence of Akpabio as President of the 10th Senate.
“I won’t mention the names of all the four other ones targeted, but the next in line is Senator Orji Uzor Kalu,” he said.
He further urged his supporters to be calm, noting that he will re-contest for the senatorial election in 2027
It would be recalled that Abbo strongly supported Akpabio’s opponent, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, in the build-up to the Senate Presidency election and vehemently nominated him for the number third position on the floor of the Senate during the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly.
While Kalu, on the other hand, ran on a joint ticket with Yari as his Deputy.
