A 24-year-old Indonesian woman has discovered that she attended her husband’s earlier wedding when she was a child, years before the two later married.
Renata Fadhea, from Bangka Island, said she only realized the coincidence after going through old photos from the second wedding of her 62-year-old husband. According to the South China Morning Post, the discovery came after the couple had already tied the knot.
The couple lost contact for years before reconnecting more than a decade later. She shared the story on TikTok, where it received more than 7.1 million views.
Fadhea’s video included a group photo from her husband’s wedding in 2009, showing her, then nine, standing near the groom, now 62.
In a follow-up video, she said she had attended the wedding as a guest and that the two are distant relatives. Her husband is her aunt’s nephew.
She said they did not know each other at the time but met again in 2019, married in 2020 and had a child in 2021.
Fadhea said she discovered the coincidence in 2019 while looking through photos from her husband’s second wedding.
She added that her husband and his second wife separated in 2011 and that she was not involved in the breakup.
Her husband has one child from his first marriage and none from the second.
Some social media users questioned the age gap between Fadhea and her husband. “I don’t understand, but I hope he does not get divorced this time,” one comment read.
Fadhea said that despite the age difference, she and her husband are compatible and live a happy life. “Met by chance when a child, reunited as a grown-up, it’s fate,” a supportive comment said.
