Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has approved a fresh round of appointments and promotions across key sectors of the state, marking his first major appointments following his recent defection from New Nigeria Peoples Party to the All Progressives Congress

The appointments were announced in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Director General, Media and Publicity, Government House Kano, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

“Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved a number of strategic appointments and promotions aimed at strengthening governance and improving service delivery across critical sectors of the state,” the statement said.

According to the statement, Hon. Abdulkadir Balarabe Kankarofi was appointed Special Adviser on Humanitarian Affairs in the Office of the Executive Governor, having previously served as Senior Special Assistant on Protocol I.

Hajia Aisha Tamburawa was also appointed Special Adviser to the Governor on Positive Propaganda. Prior to her appointment, she served as a Supervisory Councillor in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area.

In the water sector, Engr. Mukhtar Yusuf was promoted from Deputy Managing Director to Managing Director of the Water Resources Engineering and Construction Agency (WRECA), while Zakari Usman Balan was appointed Deputy Managing Director.

The governor also approved the appointment of Dr Mukhtar Bello Maisudan, a senior lecturer at Bayero University, Kano, as Executive Secretary of the Kano State Scholarship Board.

Similarly, Engr. Abba Kankarofi was promoted from Deputy Managing Director to Managing Director of the Kano Road and Maintenance Agency (KARMA).

In another appointment, Hon. Musayyib Kawu Ungoggo was named Managing Director of the Kano Zoological Garden. Ungoggo has previously served in various political roles, including as a councillor and Senior Special Reporter.

Charging the appointees to live up to expectations, the governor said they must “justify the confidence reposed in them through dedication, transparency, and unwavering commitment to the people of Kano State.”

He added that his administration “remains focused on strengthening institutions and delivering people-oriented governance in line with the objectives of the Kano First Agenda..
