The faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, alongside its National Chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed and National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, is currently attending the Independent National Electoral Commission’s INEC, quarterly consultative meeting with political parties in Abuja.
Also present at the meeting being held at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja are the All Progressives Congress, APC, National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, and Chairmen of other political parties.
A video sighted by our reporter showed the Commission provided a designated seats for the team, with Mohammed occupying the chair reserved for the “PDP Chairman” and Anyanwu seated directly behind him in the spot marked for the “PDP National Secretary.”
#Muktv recalls that this development follows a Federal High Court ruling in Ibadan on Friday, January 30, which nullified the PDP National Convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15, 2025.
Presiding judge, Justice Uche Agomoh, had barred members of the Tanimu National Working Committee, NWC, from parading themselves as national officers of the PDP.
Justice Agomoh held that the November convention was organized in blatant disregard of court orders and stressed that the PDP cannot defy court directives and simultaneously seek judicial approval for actions taken in violation of such orders.
He ruled that the PDP can only operate under a caretaker committee until a proper and lawful national convention is conducted.
The Turaki-led faction had earlier filed a suit seeking recognition of the November convention and validation of the NWC members elected during the event.
With the court ruling and INEC’s recognition, Wike’s faction now appears to hold sway over the party’s national operations.
