Abia 2027 governorship aspirant, Sir Mascot Uzor Kalu, has declared that true dignity for the people of Abia can only come from their ability to create wealth for themselves, not from handouts and short-term welfare.

Kalu said empowerment must replace dependency at the heart of development, stressing that “citizens who are productive gain confidence, purpose and pride alongside financial stability.”

He argued that poverty cannot be defeated with temporary relief programmes, noting that while welfare may ease hardship briefly, it does not deliver lasting change.

According to him, sustainable progress lies in building systems that help individuals and families generate steady income and grow economically.

Describing wealth creation as a lifeline for grassroots development, Kalu said it restores hope, creates innovation and gives people a reason to believe in their future.

The APC chieftain said a deliberate paradigm shift away from welfare to wealth creation would untie the potential of thousands of Abians, particularly youths, women, artisans and small-scale business owners.

He added that policies should focus on skills development, access to micro-business funding and incentives that encourage local production and enterprise.

Kalu maintained that when people earn through their own efforts, communities become safer, crime drops and economic growth spreads more evenly.

“Empowering citizens to create value is both an economic strategy and a moral duty,” he ended, insisting that wealth creation remains the surest path to long-term prosperity in Abia State.
