The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has shocked congregants and social media users alike after revealing how he repeatedly turned down luxury for the sake of ministry in his early days.
Sharing the testimony during a church thanksgiving service, the revered cleric recalled how an elderly woman once gifted him a Mercedes Benz at a time he was still moving around by bus.
“I almost said, ‘Alakoba wo le leyi?’ I hope this one is not trying to get me into trouble,” he said.
Fearful and unsure, Pastor Adeboye said he parked the car and refused to use it, until a divine rebuke came through a dream.
“Why are you robbing my daughter of her blessing? She sowed a seed, and you are not allowing the seed to germinate,” he quoted God as saying.
He explained that he immediately handed the car to his late deputy, Pastor Abiodun, even though he was encouraged to keep and enjoy it.
Soon after, three more Mercedes Benz cars reportedly came his way, leaving him completely amazed.
Just as he was wondering what to do with the growing number of luxury vehicles, another jaw-dropping surprise arrived.
According to him, a man showed up at his house around 2:00 AM with a rare six-door Mercedes limousine, claiming God instructed him to deliver it without delay.
“I said to God, ‘Even if I die and they put me in this car, I will wake up. Will you permit me to sell the car?’” he recalled.
After praying, Pastor Adeboye said he received approval to sell the limousine — and what he did next shocked many.
“I remember I sold it and used the money to buy motorcycles for my pastors,” he said.
