The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Rivers State Chapter, constituted five standing working committees during its general congress in Port Harcourt.
The Chairman of the chapter, Cyril Dum Wite, said the move was aimed at revitalizing the association’s activities and ensuring all members are actively involved.
According to him, his administration operates on inclusiveness and open engagement, stressing that meaningful progress cannot be achieved by the executive council alone.
> “We set up these committees to keep the association active and involve every member in the process of achieving our set objectives. You know, the executives alone cannot make real impact, so we must work together. My administration believes in openness and inclusiveness,” Dum Wite stated.
The Secretary of the chapter, Comrade Tonye Orabere, who inaugurated the committees, urged members to take their roles seriously and work diligently toward making SWAN Rivers one of the most vibrant chapters in the country.
> “I encourage all committee members to take your responsibilities seriously. SWAN Rivers has consistently been among the most active chapters in Nigeria, and we must sustain that record,” Orabere said.
