Ex-Galatasaray player, Hasan Şaş, has said that Victor Osimhen might leave the Turkish team this summer.
He thinks Juventus could follow a similar plan that Atlético Madrid used to get Ademola Lookman, to try to sign the Nigerian striker.
Osimhen, who moved to the Yellow-Reds on a permanent transfer, has had an amazing time at Rams Park.
He has scored 52 goals and provided 11 assists in 63 matches across all competitions.
His performance has led to talks about him teaming up again with his old manager, Luciano Spalletti, in Turin.
On the sporON YouTube channel, Şaş said that Galatasaray might have trouble keeping the Nigerian player if top European teams offer him a better deal.
He said, as reported by Karadeniz Gazete, “I don’t think Osimhen will remain at Galatasaray. Even if he plays well in the Juventus game and helps Galatasaray move on to the next stage. They’ll take him from there.”
Şaş also said that Galatasaray might act fast to sign Mauro Icardi on a longer contract if Osimhen leaves at the end of the season.
“As soon as Osimhen is ready to leave Galatasaray, Icardi’s contract will be extended right away,” he added.
He said Osimhen’s situation is similar to Lookman’s recent move to Atlético Madrid.
The ex-Galatasaray player said that even though some Turkish teams like Fenerbahçe S.K. showed interest, the Spanish club quickly finished the deal by covering all the money required.
I’ve been talking about Lookman since September, and then Fenerbahçe came out and said they want to get him,” he added.
“Then Atletico Madrid, a team that wasn’t even looking to sign someone, paid the money and brought him in.”
He thinks the Juventus might use a similar approach to Atlético Madrid when they try to sign Ademola Lookman from Atalanta, just like they are looking to sign Victor Osimhen.
They’ll do the same with Osimhen. They’ll take him and leave. As long as a European team needs a player, they won’t care about the cost. If Osimhen beats Juventus, they’ll come by themselves, take him, and go.”
Even though Osimhen moved to the Yellow-Reds permanently in the summer, there’s still a lot of uncertainty about his future.
His contract is only for one more year.
