Celebrity publisher Dele Momodu has finally spoken out amid the protracted custody battle between Afrobeats megastar Davido and his cousin, Sophia Momodu, and he says all hope is not lost.

The high-profile dispute over Imade Adeleke has kept fans on edge for months. Davido and Sophia, who dated in 2015 and welcomed their daughter on May 14 that year, have been locked in a tense legal showdown.

In 2024, Davido headed to a Lagos High Court, demanding unrestricted access to his daughter. Sophia fired back, insisting she had never denied him access in the first place.

Then came the shocker.

Last week, Davido dramatically withdrew the custody case, making it clear he never wanted sole custody — only a structured co-parenting arrangement.

The singer revealed that the case took a painful twist when Sophia’s lawyer referenced the tragic loss of his late son during proceedings, describing it as a “low blow”.

Speaking from Liberia, where he is currently on a visit, Momodu said his phone has not stopped buzzing.

According to him, Davido is treated like a “god of music” in the country, and concerned fans have been pleading with him to step in and broker peace.

In an emotional Instagram post, he disclosed that even a fashion designer reached out, urging him to settle the “quarrels.”

“Here in Liberia, @davido is treated as the god of music. I’ve been visiting here for over two decades but this visit is different. I came to commiserate with my friend and Sister, former Vice President H.E DR JEWEL HOWARD-TAYLOR on the passing of her only child, CHARLES PHILIP NEILSON TAYLOR JR,” he wrote.

“Since landing here, I have been inundated with messages from fans of David, and ladies who love @thesophiamomodu to bits… One of them is this “fashion designer ” @lorine doe who said I should step in and settle the “quarrels.

“My dear Sister, thanks so much. Nothing to worry about. Everything is going to be alright … We are working behind the scenes. Pls, keep everyone in your prayers.”

With emotions flaring and fans taking sides, Momodu’s assurance may be the first real sign that reconciliation talks are quietly underway.
