Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has laid down the law for his newly appointed Secretary to the State Government and Chief of Staff, warning that any involvement in secret nocturnal meetings will cost them their jobs instantly.

The governor delivered the tough charge on Thursday at Government House, Port Harcourt, moments after Dr. Dagogo Wokoma and Sunny Ewule were sworn in.

The oath of office was administered by the Chief Registrar of the State High Court, David Ihua-Maduenyi.

Fubara made it clear that their appointments are not for political drama or personal ambition but for disciplined service to the people of Rivers State.

Speaking directly to Wokoma, he stressed the weight of the office:

“The office of the Secretary to the State Government demands thoroughness, discipline, and a deep sense of responsibility.

“Your duty includes representing the state government. You need to represent us in a manner that brings honour to the state. What is important to this administration is to ensure that the good works we started, and those we inherited, are concluded in a way that brings progress and development to our dear state.”

But it was his message to the new Chief of Staff that truly sent shockwaves.

“Let me make it very clear: your duty is to handle administrative duties and image-making roles efficiently, liaising with anyone coming for any official assignment. If you involve yourself in nocturnal meetings or similar activities, I will sack you. I am very serious. What matters to me is the peace, progress, and prosperity of this state. I will not compromise on that.”

The governor warned that any act capable of embarrassing his administration would attract swift consequences, stressing that loyalty and discipline are non-negotiable.

Fubara also turned to Permanent Secretaries in attendance, directing those due for retirement to begin preparing their handover notes immediately.

He cautioned against any last-minute financial misconduct, making it clear that his administration is watching closely.
