In a harrowing incident near a commercial bank at the Warri Garage Area on Thursday, October 19, 2023, a final-year student from the Petroleum Training Institute, Effurun, Delta State, lost his life in a shocking electrocution accident while installing solar panels on a one-storey building.
Witnesses revealed that the student’s aluminum ladder became magnetized by high-tension wires linked to a neighboring commercial bank, leading to his electrocution.
Amid this grim situation, a brave passerby swiftly intervened, using a long dry plank to detach the aluminum ladder from the electrified wires.
Despite these efforts, the young man had already lost consciousness. Rushed to a nearby private clinic for treatment, he tragically passed away shortly after arriving.
The final-year PTI student, who was working on his final project, had his life cut short.
The late student, residing with his parents in the nearby Bowen Avenue area, was laid to rest in his country home in one of the Southeast states on Saturday, October 28, 2023.
