The founder of Meta, formerly known as Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, recently underwent surgery due to a knee injury sustained during his training for an upcoming mixed martial arts (MMA) competition.

Zuckerberg disclosed that he suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in a post on his Instagram account on Friday. In his update, he expressed his gratitude to the medical team who took care of him and shared his commitment to recovering and eventually participating in the competitive MMA fight, which has been slightly delayed due to the injury.

The tech guru explained, “I am on the road to recovery. Zuck tore my ACL sparring and just got out of surgery to replace it. Grateful for the doctors and team taking care of me. I was training for a competitive MMA fight early next year, but now that is delayed a bit. Still looking forward to doing it after I recover. Thank you to everyone for the love and support.”
