The father of Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has labelled reports that his son was robbed at his London home as false, confirming that the Fulham star had already departed for Turkey when the story began circulating online.

Chuka Iwobi spoke directly with veteran Nigerian journalist Colin Udoh to set the record straight after widespread reports alleged that armed intruders had broken into the midfielder’s residence and made away with valuables worth up to £500,000, including jewellery, luxury watches, a MacBook, two iPhones and cash.

“Alex is fine and there was absolutely no attempt to burgle his house. He left for Turkey this morning in preparation for the friendlies,” Chuka stated on Tuesday, categorically refuting the claims.

His account is corroborated by developments in Turkey, where Iwobi was confirmed as one of 15 players who had reported to the Super Eagles’ camp in Antalya ahead of international friendlies against Iran and Jordan.

The camp officially opened on Tuesday, and Iwobi was among the early arrivals alongside midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, defenders Emmanuel Fernandez, Semi Ajayi, Bruno Onyemaechi and Bright Osayi-Samuel, as well as forwards Moses Simon, Paul Onuachu, Philip Otele and Collins Yira Sor.
