Tragedy has struck the family of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, following the death of his mother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai.
The sad development was made public on Friday by her grandson, who took to Facebook to announce her passing, revealing that she died just hours earlier.
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. From Allah SWT we came and to Him we shall all return. I would like to inform the public of the demise of my Grandmother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai who passed away a few hours ago,” he said.
Family Cries Out For Prayers
In the emotional message, the family expressed gratitude for her life and called on the public to pray for her soul.
“We are grateful for the life she lived and may Allah SWT bless her gentle soul. May He bless the soul of the parents we have lost. On behalf of our family, we seek your prayers. Thank you,” he added.
As of the time of filing this report, details surrounding the cause of her death remain unclear.
The loss comes amid ongoing legal troubles involving El-Rufai, who is currently facing proceedings after his re-arrest by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, following an earlier detention by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
