The 1st National Teqball League, Aba 2026, has ended at the Abia Sports Club Indoor Arena, with Kahleed Yahaya and Funsho Saliu leading Team Abia to win Men Singles and Men Doubles, respectively.

Also, Musa Joshua and Gladys Abasi of Team Rivers won in Women Singles and Mixed Doubles, while Team Delta topped the table in Women Doubles.

The 1st National Teqball League, which was sponsored by the Abia State government, was competed for by 18 States from all geopolitical zones of the country, as well as a West African country, Ghana.

The States were Abia, Anambra, Enugu, Imo, Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, Edo, Ondo, Oyo, Kaduna, Jigawa, Kwara, Gombe, Nasarawa, Kogi, Niger and Ghana.

In his address, Abia State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Nwaobilor Ananaba, who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs Jane Igwe thanked Governor Alex Otti for supporting sports development and for ensuring that Abia sponsored the competition.

Also speaking, the President, Nigeria Teqball Federation, Habu Ahmed Gumel said the next National Teqball League would become an international affair, as more foreign teams will be participating.

Gumel, who was represented by the Vice President of the Nigeria Teqball Federation and the Chairman, LOC of Aba 2026, Ndudi Edede, appreciated Governor Otti for hosting the 1st National Teqball League.

Gumel specifically said that the secured environment in Abia guaranteed the confidence for players, coaches and referees from 18 States of Nigeria and a foreign nation to participate in the League.
