A 200-level student at the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) was discovered lifeless in her off-campus residence in Aluu, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.

This tragic event occurred just two weeks after the discovery of the lifeless body of a 300-level Biochemistry undergraduate, Justina Otuene, who was allegedly killed by her former partner, Damian Okoligwe, in his residence along NTA Road, Ozuoba, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.

The Dean of Student Affairs at UNIPORT, Chima Wokocha, confirmed the sad news to the media on Monday, disclosing that the young woman, known as Adaeze, was found in her off-campus apartment by neighbors.

Wokocha further revealed that the neighbors promptly transported the deceased student to the university’s health facility.

Her body was taken to the Chief Lulu-Brigss Health Centre by individuals residing in her lodge. She did not pass away in the university hostel but in her off-campus residence in Aluu. The university’s management, including myself, visited the scene of the incident, along with the police. We are aware that she had ingested a substance and lost consciousness, as a bottle of a substance was discovered beside her.

Wokocha noted that the university’s management and the police visited the scene of the incident, and the late female undergraduate’s parents have also been informed.

Grace Iringe-Koko, the spokesperson for the state police command, assured our correspondent that she would provide feedback shortly.
