Col. Austin Akobundu (Rtd.) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken the oath of office, officially assuming the role of Senator for the Abia Central Senatorial District.
The swearing-in ceremony was conducted by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during Wednesday’s plenary session.
This transition follows the recent Court of Appeal verdict that ousted Senator Darlington Nwokocha of the Labour Party (LP), paving the way for Akobundu to assume the position in the upper legislative chamber.
