Sir Mascot Uzor Kalu, the governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has formally solidified his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Abia State, taking a decisive step by purchasing the party’s nomination form ahead of the primaries.

The aspirant, who has made early entry into the race, said this underscores his firm commitment to fly the APC flag in the forthcoming election, positioning himself as the first to secure the nomination form within the party in the state.

In a statement released on Tuesday, the governorship hopeful reaffirmed his resolve to remain in the contest, assuring supporters that his ambition will not be aborted.

“Today, in a clear demonstration of my commitment to contest the 2027 governorship election in Abia State under the platform of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), I took the valiant step of purchasing the party’s nomination form, thereby becoming the first aspirant to do so and to contest the upcoming primaries.

“To my teeming supporters and followers, do not be shaken; remain resolutely steadfast, for I did not start this journey only to back down for anybody halfway.”

Kalu also used the opportunity to express gratitude to party leaders and stakeholders for their support and guidance, noting that their role has been instrumental in shaping the party’s direction in Abia State.

“My appreciation goes to all who have believed in my vision for a greater Abia, the State Working Committee of the Abia APC, the National Working Committee (NWC), and all leaders and stakeholders of our party for steering the party in the right direction.”

The development is seen as a strategic step to consolidate his grassroots support and gain early momentum within the party structure.
