A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Mahmud Sadis Buba, has formally withdrawn from the race for the Sabon Gari Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, saying his decision was premised on ongoing reconciliation efforts within the party and the need to preserve unity ahead of the elections.
In a letter addressed to the Kaduna State Chairman of the APC, 30-year-old Buba announced that his withdrawal takes immediate effect, describing the decision as painful but necessary for the collective interest of the party.
According to him, the decision followed extensive consultations with his family, political associates, and critical stakeholders within the APC.
“This was not an easy decision. But it was hastened by the reconciliation efforts initiated by stakeholders and leaders of our party,” he stated.
He added that party unity and victory at the polls must take precedence over personal ambition.
“I have decided that this decision is in the best interest of the All Progressives Congress (APC). I believe that uniting behind a single candidate is paramount to our victory in the general election and for the continued progress of our constituency and state.”
The APC stalwart also expressed appreciation to the leader of the party in Kaduna State, Governor Uba Sani, and the state leadership of the party for allowing him to participate in the nomination process.
“I want to thank the leader of our party, His Excellency Senator Uba Sani, CON, and the leadership of the party in Kaduna State for the opportunity to have participated in the nomination process. The experience has been enriching, and I am grateful for the immense support from my constituents and supporters throughout this journey.”
Buba reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC, insisting that his withdrawal should not be interpreted as political weakness, but rather as a sacrifice aimed at strengthening the party ahead of the elections.
“My withdrawal is not a sign of weakness, but a sacrifice for the greater good of the party. I assure you that I remain a faithful party member and am committed to working tirelessly to ensure the victory of the party’s consensus candidate and the party at large at the polls.”
He also appealed to his supporters to remain peaceful, united, and loyal to the party’s decision.
“I ask my supporters to remain calm, united, and to throw their full weight behind the party’s decision and whoever emerges as the party’s candidate.”
The development is seen as part of wider reconciliation and consensus-building efforts within the APC in Kaduna State ahead of the next general election.
