Former Chief of Staff in Abia State and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sir Mascot Uzor Kalu (KSJI), has reiterated his commitment to the growth and unity of the party, declaring that politics should never be driven by desperation for power.
Kalu made this known while explaining the reasons behind his decision to step aside from his governorship ambition in Abia State, stressing that the interest of the party and the preservation of internal harmony must take precedence over personal aspirations.
According to him, his commitment to strengthening democratic values in Abia State and consolidating the structures of the APC remains stronger than any personal political ambition.
“Politics, for me, has never been about desperation for office, but about service, sacrifice, and the collective advancement of our party and people,” he stated.
The APC stalwart explained that his decision followed extensive consultations and careful reflection in view of recent developments within the party.
“In view of recent developments within the party, I had, after careful reflection and extensive consultations, decided to step aside in the overall interest of unity, stability, and strategic progress,” Kalu said.
He further described the move as a sacrifice aimed at strengthening the cohesion of the party and ensuring long-term political stability within the APC.
“The decision was a demonstration of my committed belief that the success and cohesion of the APC must always take precedence over individual aspirations,” he added.
Kalu maintained that leadership should not be measured solely by the pursuit of political office, but by the willingness to make sacrifices for the greater good of the party and its members.
“True leadership is defined not merely by the pursuit of power, but by the wisdom to make sacrifices that strengthen the party and preserve harmony within its ranks,” he stated.
The former governorship aspirant also pledged continued support for the leadership and political machinery of the APC, expressing optimism about the future of the party in Abia State.
“I remain fully committed to working closely with the leadership of our great party and supporting every genuine effort aimed at consolidating the APC’s political machinery for a stronger, more united, and victorious future,” he said.
Kalu equally appreciated his supporters, friends, and loyal followers for their encouragement and steadfast support throughout his political journey.
“To my supporters, friends, and loyal followers across the state and beyond, I sincerely appreciate your steadfast loyalty, encouragement, and belief in our shared vision,” he said.
He expressed confidence that the political journey was far from over, assuring his supporters that they would continue to contribute meaningfully to the growth of the party in the future.
“Together, we remain resolute, focused, and optimistic. By the grace of God, we shall continue to contribute meaningfully to the progress of our party and engage again at the appropriate time,” Kalu added.
