In a significant boost to academic excellence, the Governing Council of Abia State University (ABSU) has approved the promotion of 41 senior academics, comprising 17 Professors and 24 Readers.
The promotions were approved at the Council’s 160th Regular Meeting following the consideration of reports from external assessors and recommendations of the Appointments and Promotions Committee (Academic).
The newly promoted scholars cut across several disciplines, including Law, Medicine, Education, Engineering, Computer Science, Mass Communication, Sociology, Banking and Finance, and Political Science.
University authorities described the development as a reflection of ABSU’s commitment to rewarding excellence, strengthening research, and enhancing the quality of teaching and learning.
The promotions have been welcomed by members of the university community, who say the advancement will further strengthen the institution’s academic reputation.
