The Ebem Ohafia community in Ohafia Local Government Area of Abia State has been thrown into mourning following the tragic deaths of two of its sons in separate road accidents that occurred within hours of each other.

The victims, identified as Mr. Thompson Kalu and Mr. Uma Orji, popularly known as “Ome Ego,” lost their lives in separate incidents on Sunday night and Monday morning.

According to reports, Thompson Kalu was riding a motorcycle on Sunday evening when he was allegedly struck by a truck said to be operating without headlights. He sustained severe head injuries and was pronounced dead shortly after the accident.

In a separate incident on Monday morning, Uma Orji lost his life in a lone accident after a truck he was travelling in reportedly crashed and fell on him.

The twin tragedies have left residents of Ebem Ohafia in deep sorrow, with family members, friends, and community leaders mourning the loss of two hardworking and respected sons of the community.

Reacting to the incidents, the traditional ruler of Ebem Ohafia Ancient Kingdom, Ezie Ukoha Kalu, alongside the Ezie-in-Council and the Ebem Ohafia Development Union (EODU), described the deaths as a devastating blow to the community.

In a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of EODU, Ifeanyi Okali, the community expressed profound grief, noting that the deceased were responsible individuals committed to the welfare of their families and the development of society.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) nor the Nigeria Police Force had released official statements on the accidents.
