Emerging fresh details in the abduction of the sister of former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, revealed by the Oyo State Police Command, allege that a personal assistant attached to a member of the family worked with the kidnappers behind the attack.
Police spokesperson, CSP Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed during an appearance on Channels Television that investigations uncovered alleged insider involvement in the June 3, 2026 abduction.
According to him, the suspect allegedly provided critical information that helped the kidnappers track the family’s movements and execute the operation successfully.
The victims, Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, were abducted in the Elewura area of Ring Road, Ibadan, while she was taking the children to school.
The incident sparked widespread tension and triggered a coordinated security operation involving intelligence gathering, surveillance and tactical deployment by security operatives.
Police said the operation eventually led officers to the kidnappers’ hideout, where a fierce gun duel broke out.
During the exchange of fire, two suspected kidnappers were killed, while several others were arrested and are currently assisting investigators.
Ayanlade confirmed that the victims were rescued unharmed and safely reunited with their family, describing the operation as a major breakthrough in the ongoing fight against kidnapping in Oyo State.
The police added that investigations are still ongoing to uncover every individual connected to the crime and ensure they are prosecuted accordingly.
Residents were also urged to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to security agencies.
