A group of Imo indigenes in the diaspora has thrown its weight behind former Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, for the Imo East Senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a statement made available to journalists, the group announced its endorsement following what it described as extensive consultations among members across various countries.

According to the group, Madumere’s experience in public service, leadership credentials and longstanding involvement in the political development of Imo State make him a strong contender for the Senate seat.

The diaspora body noted that the Owerri Zone requires effective representation at the National Assembly, stressing the need for a leader with the capacity to attract development, promote the interests of the people and provide quality legislative representation.

The group also highlighted Madumere’s grassroots appeal, political experience and accessibility, describing him as a candidate capable of championing the aspirations of the Imo East Senatorial District.

It called on stakeholders, community leaders and residents of Owerri Zone, both within Nigeria and abroad, to support the former deputy governor’s senatorial ambition as preparations for the 2027 elections continue to gather momentum.

The endorsement adds to the growing political activities and alignments already taking shape ahead of the next general election in Imo State.
