Popular Enugu-based Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, has expressed support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, accusing opposition politicians of using the country’s security challenges as a tool to discredit the administration.
Speaking during a recent address, Fr. Mbaka drew parallels between the current political climate and the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, alleging that insecurity was similarly weaponized by political opponents to undermine the government at the time.
The cleric maintained that while security concerns remain a major challenge, critics should avoid politicizing the issue and instead support efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability across the country.
Mbaka’s remarks have generated reactions within political and religious circles, with supporters viewing his comments as a call for national unity, while others see them as part of the ongoing debate surrounding the country’s security situation and governance.
His intervention comes amid continued discussions over the state of security and the performance of the federal government as political activities ahead of future elections gradually gather momentum.
