The Anambra State Executive Council has approved a new policy requiring companies seeking government contracts in the state to provide proof of tax compliance before participating in project bids.

Under the directive, tax clearance and evidence of tax worthiness will now form part of the mandatory prequalification requirements for all contractors bidding for government projects.

The Council said the measure is aimed at ensuring that companies operating in the state fulfill their tax obligations and contribute meaningfully to the state’s development as responsible corporate partners.

According to the government, the policy will strengthen revenue generation, promote transparency in the procurement process, and ensure that the state derives maximum benefit from businesses executing projects within its jurisdiction.
