The Nigerian Army, in collaboration with the Department of State Services (DSS), has uncovered a large cache of weapons and ammunition during a security operation in Enugu State.
The operation, carried out by troops of the 82 Division Garrison under Operation UDO KA, followed credible intelligence and led security operatives to a concealed arms hideout in Gariki, Enugu South Local Government Area.
According to the Army, the weapons were hidden inside a zinc structure disguised as a piggery. Recovered items include machine guns, an RPG launcher tube, AK-47 rifles, hand grenades, magazines and hundreds of rounds of ammunition.
The Army said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to sustain peace and strengthen security across the South-East region. Arrested suspects and recovered exhibits have been handed over to the DSS for further investigation and possible prosecution.
Military authorities described the operation as a major breakthrough in the fight against criminal and violent groups, while urging members of the public to continue providing useful information to security agencies.
