A widely circulated video emerged on Wednesday showed when thieves were compelled to consume alcoholic beverages they had stolen from a shop in South Africa.
The footage, shared by South African journalist Velani Ludidi, detailed the break-in where the thieves pilfered alcoholic drinks from the store.
Ludidi reported that upon apprehending the thieves the following day, the shop owner issued an ultimatum: either consume all the stolen alcohol in one go or face community retribution.
“Thieves broke in and stole alcohol worth 14k. They were caught a day later with the alcohol. The owner said they must drink it all in one go or face umphakathi. The thieves are struggling,” the post disclosed.
The video depicted the suspects visibly struggling as they consumed the stolen alcohol directly from the bottles.
