The Abia State Government has announced plans to host a high-powered Renewed Hope Ambassadors Presidential Media Team on a project inspection tour across the state.

Briefing journalists after the State Executive Council meeting, Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, said the team will inspect key federal and state government projects, including major road infrastructure and development initiatives across the 17 local government areas.

Kanu described the visit as a reflection of the growing collaboration between the Federal Government and the Abia State Government, citing projects such as the proposed Abia Airport and the recently inaugurated Renewed Hope Housing Estate in Umuahia.

He also disclosed that the state has continued its aggressive infrastructure drive, with direct labour operations carried out at 49 locations and several road maintenance projects ongoing despite the recent commissioning of about 25 roads.

The Commissioner further announced activities marking the 2026 African Boy Child Day, including debates and quiz competitions involving over 1,000 participants, while highlighting the state’s commitment to youth development.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Poverty Alleviation and Social Protection, Mrs. Ngozi Felix, clarified that the Abia Senior Citizens Law provides healthcare, welfare, and social protection for vulnerable elderly persons, rather than monthly stipends for all citizens aged 60 and above.

The presidential media team’s visit is expected to conclude with a civic reception hosted by the state government.
