The Anambra State Police Command has received a delegation from the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, as part of an ongoing operational tour of the South-East aimed at enhancing security and improving policing across the region.

The IGP was represented by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of the South-East, DIG Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, who engaged officers and stakeholders on strategies for tackling emerging security challenges through intelligence-led and technology-driven policing.

During the visit, the DIG emphasized the need for practical security interventions tailored to the unique challenges of Anambra and the wider South-East region. He also highlighted plans to integrate artificial intelligence and advanced technology into investigative and policing processes.

The DIG further charged officers to uphold professionalism, accountability, respect for human rights, and community-focused policing in the discharge of their duties.

Welcoming the delegation, the Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Ikioye Orutugu, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to strengthening community policing and sustaining efforts to ensure peace and security across the state.

The operational tour also provided an opportunity for strategic discussions with stakeholders on intelligence sharing, crime prevention, and coordinated responses to security threats, as part of broader efforts to enhance safety and socio-economic development in the South-East.
