The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has rejected a purported list of candidates circulating on social media for the forthcoming elections in Imo, Abia, and Anambra states, describing the document as fake and unauthorised.

In a statement issued on Friday, the party’s National Secretary, Ikenna Enekweizu, said the controversial lists did not originate from the party’s national headquarters and should be disregarded by members, supporters, and the general public.

According to the NDC, the authentic list of its candidates for the affected states has already been duly compiled and submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) through the appropriate channels in compliance with electoral regulations.

The party alleged that the circulation of the fake documents was a deliberate attempt by mischief makers to create confusion, spread misinformation, and undermine confidence within its ranks ahead of the elections.

Enekweizu stated that the party has commenced investigations to identify those responsible for the unauthorised lists and prevent further attempts to mislead the public.

He reassured party members that the NDC remains united and focused on strengthening its political structures nationwide despite efforts to distract its leadership and supporters.

The party further reiterated its commitment to providing a credible political alternative and urged stakeholders to rely only on information released through its official channels.
