The Abia State Police Command has arrested two suspects for unlawful possession of firearms during a stop-and-search operation in Aba.

The suspects, identified as David Emmanuel, 33, and Joel Emeka, 25, were intercepted by operatives of the Nediegoro Divisional Police Headquarters along Azikiwe by Kent Road on June 12, 2026.

According to the Command, one occupant of the tricycle fled the scene while the two others were apprehended after a search revealed a locally made pistol, live ammunition, cartridges, a black bag, and a tricycle used for transportation.

The recovered exhibits have been secured as evidence, while the suspects are currently in custody and undergoing further investigation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID). They are expected to be charged to court upon completion of investigations.

The Police Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring safety and security across Abia State, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to security agencies.
